M. EMMANUEL DANIEL DANDURAND

1919 - 2015

Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, Vermont on Thursday, November 12, 2015, from 4 to 8 p.m. Father Luke Austin will conduct a Vigil Service at 7:45 p.m. and remain after for The Sacrament of Reconciliation. 

Friends may also call on Saturday, November 14, 2015, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Complexe Funeraire Brome-Missisquoi, 215 Rue de la Riviere, Bedford Quebec, Canada, (Dion Funeral Home).

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 11 a.m. from Eglise Saint-Sebastien, 600 Rue Principale, Saint-Sebastien, Quebec Canada. Father Claude Boudreau will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Phenix family lot in the parish cemetery.

Emmanuel Daniel Dandurand, age 96 years, died early Monday morning, November 9, 2015 at his Dandurand Road residence with loving family at his side.

Born in Franklin on, June 25, 1919, he was the son of the late Leopold and Leona (Roy) Dandurand. He attended schools in the Franklin area and on, June 10, 1941, was married to the former Irene Phenix who predeceased him on, October 24, 1989. On September 25, 1993 he was married to Muriel Helen Marrian-Johnson and they have spent twenty-two very happy years together. 

Emmanuel was a lifelong farmer, but also enjoyed teaching himself many different trades including welding, electrical, refrigeration and construction. He had much love for his maple trees and enjoyed cutting wood. He was a loving husband to Irene and father to their sons, Serge and Luc. He was a hard worker, loved his work and was kind to everyone. This gentle soul will be dearly missed. He is now with his dear ones in heaven and is praying for his family and friends here on earth.

In addition to his wife Muriel of Franklin, Emmanuel leaves his sons, Serge M. Dandurand and wife Marguerite Nadeau of Franklin and Luc R. Dandurand and his wife Amy Wilson of Underhill; 23 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter;  brothers, Gerard Dandurand and wife Theresa of Essex Junction, Alexis Dandurand of Franklin, Paul Andre Dandurand and wife Nellie of New Jersey and Georges Dandurand and wife Maria of Pike River, Quebec; a sister, Madeleine Dandurand of New Jersey as well as several nieces and nephews. He also leaves Muriel’s children, Laura Gaudette and husband Raymond of Swanton, Wallace Johnson and wife Sue of Fayetteville, Arizona, Rose Johnson of Swanton, Vincent Johnson and wife Joanne of Franklin, Melanie French of Brattleboro, Moira Jettie and husband Fredrick of Sheldon, Brendan Johnson and wife Angie of Franklin, and predeceased by Shawn Johnson. 

In addition to his parents and first wife Irene, Emmanuel was predeceased by a brother Jean-Marie Dandurand and his wife Laura; sisters, Lucille Dandurand and Annette Dandurand and sister-in-law, Jeannine Dandurand. 

A sincere “Thank You” goes out to the Franklin County Home Health Agency – Hospice Program for their devotion to Emmanuel and the great support and compassion shown to Muriel and the family.
