Passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, after a courageous open heart surgery, on April 30, 2018, at the age of 67, son of the late Erika Steinman and of the late Ludwig Blumenfeld, long time resident of Brigham, QC.

He leaves to mourn his brothers and sisters: Francie (Alfred), Cindy (late Bob), Henry (Charlotte), Sylvia (Richard), Alan (Johanne), Deana (Ken) and Carol (Cameron); aunt Silvia (Rudi), and uncle Tony (Barbara), numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and dear friends.

Stan was an outstanding athlete and coach, and committed volunteer. He was one of the first Canadian athletes to play Division 1, NCAA Basketball for Tulsa University.

He will be sorely missed.

Donations to Massey-Vanier Athletics in Stan’s memory would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers. Stan would have liked that.

Words cannot describe how I feel about Stan loss. Being so far away makes it harder. Stan was a quiet loving man. He certainly loved all of his family so much. His love for his students and team members was tremendous. He will always be missed and never forgotten. He is embraced with love. Love and blessings to all. Peace.

Sincere sympathies to all the family. My memories of Stan are all basketball related. I remember seeing him play and being duly impressed. Then I had the pleasure of getting to know him a little better when we coached against each other, Stan for Massey and me for Galt, Junior Boys and the rivalry was intense but while very competitive, always a gentleman and class act win or lose. He was very generous with his time and energy, volunteering in different ways and with that quiet, fun manner. He will be missed! Hugs to all!

Billy and Stan were the greatest of friends all thru school at CHS and on the basketball court. The three of us were in high school together and we have wonderful memories of those times. We would go to see Stan at the farm when we visited Cowansville. We are saddened that we will not get to see our dear friend Stan this time. We send our sincerest sympathies to the Blumenfeld family. Gone too soon and he will be missed. Stan always had a smile for everyone and the kindest gentlest soul. RIP dear friend. Love Claudia and Billy
