We send our sincere sympathy to the Gilman family. You have suffered a great loss with the death of Fred. He was the kind of gentleman we should all aspire to be: always available to offer help or advice, ready to share his knowledge or expertise whenever he could, and a constant source of information. Fred was the inspiration for me to become involved in many community projects, beginning with the founding of the Municipal Library and culminating with election as a Municipal Councillor. We shall remember him with much respect and great admiration. Rest assured our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May he rest in peace and remain in your hearts.
Fred Gilman: A true getleman! I will always appreciate the day Fred (and his entourage) took to come visit the students at Massey-Vanier a few years back around Remembrance Day to speak about his war experience. He was generous with his time and his personal memorabilia. Thank you Mr. Gilman, for sharing with us and helping us educate our students.

Very Saddened to hear of the passing of Mr Gilman. He was always very kind to me and my family. I went fishing very often with his late brother Arnold and we would leave in the boat from his place. Fred , when he was home , would always come and say hi and asked if we caught any fish. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten. We have such fond memories of Mr. Gilman in church. He was one of the first there and last to leave every Sunday. I remember how proud he rode in the Bedford Fair parade every year. Fred was a true man of the community working tirelessly for all the causes he held near and dear to him. The Bedford United Church, The Masons, The Legion and any other group in the Town of Bedford where he could lend a hand. We offer our sympathies to all the family but at the same time we offer our best wishes, Fred Gilman was a man that we should all aspire to be. His legacy will live on and you should all be proud of the life he led. In his 97th year he was still baking bread and delivering it to his friends. We all have a lot to learn from the way he chose to live his live. May he rest in Peace.
Our hearts are saddened by your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I am so sad to hear this news! My sincere condolences to all the family!
Sending family my deepest sympathies. I will always remember getting to drive around with Fred and Esther, in one of his antique cars, for the Bedford Centennial. We were also thankful for Fred?s videographer skills at the Kemp weddings. Wonderful memories captured, thanks to him. Sincerely Steph
