Peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital, August 24 2023, at the age of 97, resident of Dorval, wife of late Mr. Douglas Frank Deuel, daughter of the late Harry Withers and late Harriet Vernon, mother to late Marion Deuel (passed away July 20th, 2023). Born in Manchester, England in 1926 she spent her early years surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She adored how her parents entertained a variety of groups with concert parties providing music, food and dance for people to gather, socialize and enjoy themselves. This was especially needed during wartime. Arriving in Canada in 1946 as a war bride from WWII to start anew with her husband and infant daughter she set on a new course in life. Over the years she resided in various places on the island of Montreal where she raised her family and worked casually for extra money so she could manage to maintain close contact with her European roots. Avril was characterized by her support for charities, especially ones that involved animals and needy children. She had a zest for life, travel and loved people. She is survived by her grandson Douglas Courtemanche (Tammy Galvao), her great granddaughter Aria, and other relatives and friends. Especially proud of her late husband`s contribution to the Canadian armed forces during WWII (rank of private – Royal Canadian Army Service Corps 1940-1945) and his roots in Philipsburg.
